We took a last minute road trip for a Nashville Family Vacation a couple weeks ago and we had so much fun exploring Music City! Wyndham Nashville invited us to come check out the resort and have some fun in the city. We had such a relaxing and fun-filled stay. Check out a recap of our trip and where to stay, what to see/do, and what to eat in Nashville.
Nashville Family Vacation
We had such a great time running around Nashville! There are so many great places to explore and so much to see. We have even been talking about planning a second trip to Music City this fall so we can go back and see/do the things we didn’t have time for this time around. Still, we were able to take in so many of the wonderful things Nashville has to offer.
Stay:
Something we always enjoy when we are traveling is a comfortable home-base. We stayed at the Wyndham Nashville and it was perfect for our stay. We stayed in a two bedroom condo with plenty of space for Milo to play plus a full kitchen, living area, and dining table. It truly had all the comforts of home.
There are so many great amenities including three pools (1 indoor and 2 outdoor). Milo had so much fun splashing around in the pool before enjoying a little time on the playground. He’s still so little but he thoroughly enjoyed the rocking horse!
The property also organizes lots of fun activities for the kiddos in the Grand Ole Kids Club. We stopped into one event to make a bear for Milo at the Bear Factory. M loves his “Nash-Bear” so much. He literally lights up and giggles every time we show it to him.
The hotel is located basically across the street from the Grand Ole Opry so it’s a little outside of the downtown Nashville area. This is ideal for us because we have a little one in tow. But if you want to spend most of your time in downtown Nashville, don’t worry. One of the best perks of staying at this property were the shuttles that run all day, round trip to downtown Nashville. So convenient! Parking downtown can be expensive and difficult to find so this is a great option.
See/Do:
There’s so much to do in Nashville that there’s absolutely no way we could possibly see everything in a couple days, but I still think we managed to hit up a few musts. We had essentially 3 full days there and spent the first day at the resort working, chilling at the pool, and taking advantage of some of the activities on the property. The next two days, we got out and explored a little.
The Gulch
This is a trendy and fun part of town with lots of fun murals, restaurants, coffee shops, and shops. We spent pretty much a full afternoon in this area and I think it was one of my favorite parts of Nashville.
The Grand Ole Opry
Nick and I are music lovers and concert goers so we were thrilled that Wyndham Extra Holidays sent us to the Grand Ole Opry. We don’t keep up with country music but I definitely don’t think you have to in order to appreciate the Opry. We had SUCH a good time and Milo loved it, too! His eyes were glued to the stage until he fell asleep in Nick’s arms. It was such a good memory and it was SO easy to do, even with a baby. The Wyndham is basically across the street and there is abundant parking at the Opry.
Amelia’s Flower Truck
Amelia’s Flower Trucks move and you can find their locations on Instagram or their website every day. They were at the Gulch when we were there for lunch, so we walked over and created a little bouquet to brighten the condo during our stay and take home as a souvenir.
Old Town Trolley Tours
Wyndham Extra Holidays hooked us up with a trolley tour of Nashville. We would typically recommend doing a tour the *first* day of a trip because it gives you a preview of the area so you know how to spend the remainder of your time. Given the timing of our trip, however, we did the tour the last day. The tour has 15 stops around Nashville and you can hop on and hop off wherever you like. We stayed on the tour for the whole round because Milo was sleeping, then we took it back to the second stop because that’s where some of the things we wanted to see were.
Hatch Show Print
One of the things we really wanted to see was Hatch Show Print. Nick is a musician and has played guitar for half his life. We love blues and Nick has several blues posters from different artists that were made by Hatch. It was really cool to see and pretty special for Nick. We grabbed Milo a poster and a sticker (he has a sticker collection filled with stickers from all the cool places he goes) before heading to lunch.
Eat:
As I mentioned before, the condo had a full kitchen, so we went and picked up a few groceries so that we could save some on meals. We mostly ate breakfasts at the condo then ventured out for late lunches. We were only in town for a few days, so we hit up a couple local places that were highly recommended by some of my blogger friends in the area – thanks guys!
Nada
Yummy tacos, chips and salsa (getttt the queso!), short walk to Gigi’s cupcakes (we didn’t go because we had a sleepy baby, but everyone said we should).
Saint Anejo
More tacos (I actually preferred these to the ones I had at Nada but all were delish) in the Gulch. Easy parking. Short walk to lots of other fun things.
Dozen Bakery
Cute little bakery. We picked up a few pastries here for our “pastries in bed” tradition on Instagram and they were so yum!
Frothy Monkey
Super cute coffee shop. There are several locations around Nashville, but we hit up the Nations location on the recommendation of a local blogger.
Killebrew Coffee
Coffee shop in the Gulch. We popped in for a dirty chai and some AC after lunch.
Martin’s BBQ
This was the very last stop of our trip. The guide on the trolley tour pointed out Martin’s so we decided we would go there after the tour. The line was super intimidating, but one of the staff members encouraged us that the wait would be quick. He told Nick to “take the baby and grab a table in the AC” while I waited in line and we were glad that we stayed. The line moved quickly and the food came out even faster and it was AMAZING.
Nashville is a super fun little getaway from Atlanta and I think now we will make a point to go there more often. Have you been to Nashville? What are some of your favorite places?
The hotel shuttle sounds so convenient! I’ve only been to Nashville once (we took a Greyhound to see a concert and were back in ATL within like 36 hours, lol). I’ve been dying to go back and actually explore a bit more!
