Hotel Valencia Riverwalk San Antonio

We recently visited Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio as a family and it was such a fun little trip. San Antonio has quick, direct flights from Atlanta. So when we had the opportunity to visit, we jumped at it. Nick, Milo, and I met Nick’s mom and sister in San Antonio for a few days of fun.

Nick and I work mornings at home and usually keep the same schedule when we travel. It always works really well as Milo likes to eat, play, and nap in the mornings. We’ll pop out of the hotel for breakfast and coffee, especially if there’s a local shop within walking distance, then head back to work. Then we have the afternoons free for exploring!

Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

We spent Sunday through Thursday in San Antonio and thought that was a great amount of time, though we certainly could have spent a few more days there. Visit San Antonio kindly helped us plan some fun things to do, so we have a full itinerary of things to do in San Antonio, but wanted to share a few of our favorite things about Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, including some nearby attractions.

Location, location, location

Hotel Valencia Riverwalk is in the PERFECT location in San Antonio. It’s conveniently situated along the riverwalk; however, it’s at the quieter end, which made it ideal for us. It’s also located on Houston street, which has basically endless options for food and drink. We could walk to everything we wanted to see (riverboat tours, restaurants, the Alamo), but it was still quiet and peaceful. We only had to Uber to/from the airport and to the zoo.

We could also access pretty much everything we needed during or stay. Sip Brew Bar & Eatery is basically right outside of the hotel (I put in for a couple lattes), Starbucks is down the street (I figured out how to time my mobile orders perfectly — no shame), CVS is a quick walk down the riverwalk and there’s a Walgreens (with a cool, old school neon sign) right down Houston street. We also loved La Panaderia for pastries and desserts. The Majestic theatre is also located on Houston street (between the hotel and Walgreens). We didn’t get to see anything while we were there, but I so wish we could have!

Privacy

I already mentioned that Hotel Valencia is located at a quieter end of the riverwalk, but it’s also just generally quiet. There were plenty of other people staying there but we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We had a courtyard room and could sit on the little balcony in peace in the mornings. The hotel recently underwent a $10 million renovation and has Spanish Colonial and Modern Mediterranean vibes. It feels so moody and romantic – like a little oasis in the middle of all that San Antonio has to offer.

Dorrego’s

We left Milo with his Nonna and Aunt Kayla one night so that Nick and I could have a romantic little date night at Dorrego’s. It was absolutely amazing! Dorrego’s menu is Argentinian inspired and the atmosphere is perfect for dinner with the family or a romantic date night. And it’s not just for guests of the hotel. Dorrego’s is an excellent choice for locals as well. It would be a perfect date night to pop over to Dorrego’s for dinner before a show at the Majestic. We only snapped a couple photos of our dinner but you can see that the presentation is next-level. And everything was so delicious that we left absolutely nothing behind.

Accommodation

We LOVED our room at Hotel Valencia. The room was comfortable and inviting and very spacious. We almost didn’t want to leave at all each day and it was the perfect space for our work days as well. There was a spacious work space for us to set up our laptops.

Besides the guest rooms, there were also plenty of spaces to enjoy throughout the hotel. There’s a nice outdoor patio space outside of Dorrego’s overlooking the riverwalk.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk and would absolutely return. If you’re planning a trip to San Antonio (or even if you aren’t), we highly recommend Hotel Valencia.

Have you ever been to San Antonio? Wouldn’t you love a visit at Hotel Valencia? <3

As always, thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out my stories highlights for more from our trip!

Mae
