Those of you who keep up with me on Instagram might have seen that I went to Destin, FL on a girls trip a couple weekends ago (check out my highlights if you missed it). I went for a last-minute trip with Molly, Lacey, and Beth to check out The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa and it was absolutely amazing! The Henderson is a newly-developed property and it is a picture of perfection. Stunningly decorated (with coastal and traditional influences), The Henderson is an ultimate destination for relaxation. The bright and airy property is both luxurious and comfortable.
The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa
Located on Florida’s Emerald coast, I was surprised to find that The Henderson had a very secluded and private feel, though it is just minutes from all of the happenings of Destin. I love Destin, but I feel like the property is a refreshing departure from your typical Destin accommodations. If you are looking for luxury properties in Destin, Florida, this is your place. It has all the offerings for a perfect beach getaway.
I drove in on a Friday with Molly and Lacey and we met Beth at the resort. We were greeted at the property by the friendliest staff. We were promptly guided to our rooms, which were bright and welcoming.
The Itinerary
Friday
Happy Hour at Horizons
After we freshened up in our rooms, we met at Horizons on the resort property for drinks and apps before dinner. The chef created some delicious sushi rolls, which we quickly devoured. I love sushi and these were beyond amazing. I also thoroughly enjoyed the crispy cauliflower! The drinks were also amazing. The Henderson offers a pretty generous list of mocktails at their restaurants. A lot of couples visit the resort for a babymoon and young families enjoy the property as well. They wanted to make sure that pregnant women, nursing mamas (like me!), and anyone who wants to enjoy a tasty drink without the alcohol is not left out! This was my first time away from little Milo so I ordered the Elderflower Citrus Lemonade and it was delicious.
Dinner at Cuveé
Just a short Uber from the property is local restaurant Cuveé Kitchen & Wine Bar. Cuveé has a lovely and intimate atmosphere and the very best food and drinks! After our trip to Destin and all the delicious food, I feel inspired to make culinary exploration a component of every trip I take in the future. I’ve been trying to be more intentional about where we eat when we travel so we don’t end up at Chili’s and it has opened up my world. Seriously, what have I been doing with my life?
After dinner and conversation, we Ubered back tot he hotel and rested.
Saturday
Beach Yoga
Saturday morning we woke up and headed down to the fitness center where our yoga teacher guided us to the beach for an amazing and relaxing yoga session. It was so peaceful doing yoga on the beach. The wind on our skin, the sun on our faces, and the sound of the ocean were truly the best accompaniment for finding our center. After morning yoga, I felt refreshed and ready to take on the day. We headed back to our rooms to get ready for our next outing!
We had a few events lined up that morning/early afternoon, including a trunk show and lunch at Brotulas (same owners as Cuveé and equally delicious) before heading back to the resort.
Spa Day
On Saturday afternoon, we headed to the spa at The Henderson for massages. The spa facility is incredible, with steam rooms and relaxing sitting areas. You can head there early to enjoy the space before your massage. I opted for a 60 minute Swedish massage and it was the very best! I was apparently in more need of a massage than I thought and felt like a new person when I left.
Dinner at Primrose
The Henderson has excellent dining options. We dined outside at Primrose. Chef Hieu Nyugen has incredible custom creations. I was partial to the sushi, but every dish (don’t skip desert) we tried was incredible.
We stayed at dinner way too late. There was a wedding happening on the property so we listened to the music and just chatted and enjoyed good company.
Sunday
We woke up Sunday and took our time relaxing in our rooms with coffee and a view. We took our time to packing up and getting ready. We sent our bags down so that we could enjoy the resort a little longer.
Brunch at Primrose
After our late evening the night before, we were in no hurry so we went down to Primrose in the late morning for a beautiful brunch. We enjoyed all the things – mimosas, chicken and waffles, fresh fruit, breakfast tacos – family style. We talked and talked and had the very best time. We had the most amazing waitress (the same waitress we ahd the evening prior) and she just made our visit that much better.
That’s something you will find over and over at The Henderson – incredible staff and service. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and helpful.
Pool Time
After brunch, we changed into our swimsuits for a little bit of pool time in a private cabana. I would HIGHLY recommend incorporating this into your itinerary. Order drinks poolside in the shade and wade into the water at yoru leisure. The beach rentals are also a great option.
We were in no hurry to leave, but after our pool time, it was time to head back home and back to reality.
If you are heading to Destin, I would put The Henderson as my top choice. If resort life is your type of life, you won’t be disappointed. But if you want to head out and check out the local fare, you are minutes from all the Destin happenings.
What are your favorite things to do in Destin? Will you be staying at The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa next time?
