Do Good Wednesdays are all about doing good for others and, in turn, doing good for yourself. My vision for Do Good Wednesdays is for it to become a place of retreat in the middle of the week. I want for it to be a place where you come to restore your faith in humanity and where you come to be inspired to live better. If you know me, you know that charity and volunteering are a big part of who I am. But that’s not what this is about. This is about growing together, making better decisions, and doing good with the resources we have.
With popular campaigns that use the buy one, give one model, “charity” has never been more fashionable than it is now. And it is my prayer that giving never goes out of style. However, it seems to be all too easy for a company to slap a charity sticker on their products (both literally and figuratively) and reap the benefits of “doing good.” That’s not what this is about either. Company’s have to make a profit and I understand that. But taking advantage of those who are disadvantaged is not okay. That’s why I want to highlight brands that I think capture what it really means to give.
One brand that I have been particularly impressed with lately is 31Bits. Their message is one of empowerment and I think it’s a message that we all can get behind. Read their mission statement here and check out their beautiful, hand-crafted products here. For more fun, click their banner above to read their blog. Also be sure to check out this fun “Give with Glam” campaign 31Bits did with my favorite blogger, Julia of Gal Meets Glam. So cute!
Want to nominate a person, non-profit, or brand for doing good? Send me an email with your nomination and why you think your nomination would be a good fit. You can also share your nominations or your experiences doing good on Twitter with #DoGoodWednesday. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
Want more doing good? Check back next week for another Do Good Wednesday. In the meantime, check out these 20 photos that will make you cry!
Remember that you are your greatest resource and you have the power to do good.
