I’ve been a longtime wearer of shapewear, but since having a baby, I’ve definitely grown my collection a bit. I used to have just two trust pair of SPANX shaping shorts but there are so many new options today and some new names in the shapewear game that I’ve grown to love.
If you’re on the hunt, my favorite shapwear brands are SPANX (duh), Yummie, SKIMS, and Jockey.
There’s an option for every look you can think of, so I’ve pulled my favorite shapewear styles. These are all brands that I actually own and love. I’ve tried so many styles so that you don’t have to and I’m breaking down what shapewear styles to try with your favorite closet staples. Prices range for $12 to $68, so I feel confident you can find something even on a budget.
For each of these brands, I usually order a small or a medium, but for SKIMS, I actually think I would size up. I purchased my usual size (S/M) and that’s what I’ve been wearing, but they are very difficult to get on. Once they are on, they fit well. But getting them on was a CHORE.
I DO want to add about SKIMS though that the fabric is very strong.
I saw Kim K say that in an IG story that the fabric is strong but once I tried them, I really saw what she meant. I have almond or stiletto nails 99% of of the time. They have been known to puncture my leggings on (more than one) occasion, but even with the struggle to get SKIMS on, my nails didn’t even almost puncture them. I was super impressed.

No matter what type of jeans I wear, my two overall favorite shapewear styles for jeans are these ($12) and these ($18). They are comfortable and don’t feel unbearable but they also help smooth and shape a little.

Best Shapewear to Wear with Wrap Dresses

When I was in Arkansas last month for a wedding, I wore this dress, which is a wrap style and comes up kind of high on one side. I was planning to wear the solution short from SKIMS so that you couldn’t see my shorts underneath but ended up forgetting to bring any shapewear at all. After an emergency trip to Target, I ended up wearing nude high-waisted shaping underwear with some black Jockey shorts over them. It ended up being perfect. I know, I know, layering shapewear seems nuts and a little excessive, but I couldn’t find something that both came up high enough AND came down low enough so I had to improvise.
What are your favorite shapewear styles? Did I miss yours?
