A few weeks ago, Nick, Milo, and I had the opportunity to visit Hilton Head Island and stay at Sonesta Resort. We LOVE Hilton Head, as you well know, so we were thrilled for our second trip this year. For this trip, we decided to spend most of our time at the resort. With a lovely pool, direct beach access, bike rentals, and fantastic on-site dining, there’s no reason to leave! If you are planning a visit to the island and you’ve wondered where to stay in Hilton Head, I would absolutely recommend Sonesta Resort and here’s why….
1. Location
You guys know that typically the first thing I look at when booking a hotel or resort is the location. Whether it’s proximity to the beach, area of town, or what restaurants are nearby, location is almost always essential. In this case, the property really ticks all the boxes. It’s located right on a beautiful beach, it’s minutes from shopping and dining, and it is in one of my favorite areas of HHI.
Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island is 5 miles from Shelter Cove shopping center with shops and dinning (we tried Jane Bistro this trip and LOVED it) and a Kroger. It’s just a couple minutes from Duck Donuts, Fresh Market, and more. It’s also just a couple miles to Coligny Beach, which we love. Whether it’s to grab lunch or ice cream or pop in some unique boutiques at the plaza or walk down to the beach, Coligny Beach is one of our favorite places to stop.
2. Dining
While Sonesta Resort is delightfully placed among some of our favorite things on Hilton Head Island, there’s really no reason you have to leave once you’re there because everything you need is on property, including amazing food. We ordered in-room dining our first morning and it was delicious. The we also popped into Heyward’s for breakfast one morning while we waited out the rain and it was also delicious! Then we had dinner at Seacrest Terrace & Patio one evening and it was amazing. I ordered the Mahi sandwich, Nick had the snapper, and we shared the crab dip and it was all incredibly good.
3. Amenities
In addition to on-site dining, Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island also has a pool with relaxing, shaded daybeds, a spa, and well-appointed guest rooms and suites with private balconies and luxurious finishes. If visiting with a baby, there a cribs available, which we found incredibly helpful. There are also tons of things to do with kids if you are visiting with your family. Milo is too small for a lot of the things, but if you are traveling with older kiddos, they’ll be able to take advantage of some of the offerings. We ran into PLENTY babies during our stay, so there’s absolutely plenty of fun to be had with a baby. But just a note in case you are looking for things for your kids – there’s an entire kids club (Just Us Kids) with activities for kiddos 3-12.
The rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and we felt right at home during our stay.
I always work a little when we travel, whether I am answering emails, creating spreadsheets, or auditing reports, and I found the office space in the room to be perfect for what I needed as well.
Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island is obviously beautiful. The landscaping is lush and tropical. Milo loves plants and trees so it was so fun walking around with him and pointing everything out. We had a hard time narrowing down our photos because the backdrop was very obviously stunning.
We so enjoyed our stay at the resort and can’t wait to return next time we visit Hilton Head Island. Thank you to Sonesta Resort for hosting us!
Have you been to Hilton Head Island? What are your favorite things to do/see/eat in the area? Have you stayed at Sonesta?
