I can’t believe it’s already May and that summer is just around the corner. Summer is always a busy time of year for me and it’s usually filled with weekend trips (sometimes for fun and sometimes not) and little vacations. Last year, I spent pretty much my entire summer away for one reason or another. This summer I have several little trips planned and I’ve put together a list of some of my summer travel must-haves with Topshop. I’ve pulled some of my favorite pieces and put them together in different looks for some serious travel outfit inspiration.
The Lineup

Look One
Black Bodycon Dress | Denim Jacket | Tan Sandals

This little black bodycon dress is one of my absolute favorite summer pieces and it’s less than $30. I consider it a summer travel staple. Wear it to the airport for your travel day with some wedges and this denim jacket. Then you can re-wear the same dress/jacket dress combo on your trip with sandals for a day of exploring. The dress would also be great for a night out or dinner.
Look Two
Denim Jacket | Distressed Mom Shorts | Plain White Tee | Tan Sandals | Hat

A pair of distressed white shorts is another summer travel staple for me. This pair is high waisted and very comfortable for a day of walking, shopping, and lunch. I sized up in this pair and I think they fit perfectly that way.
Look Three
Distressed Mom Shorts | White Off Shoulder Top | Tan Sandals | Hat

You probably know by now that I’m obsessed with off shoulder tops, so of course this cutie would make the list. Switch the denim jacket and tee from look two for this white off shoulder top and wear over your swimsuit for a day at the beach or pool.
Look Four
Distressed Mom Shorts | Black Adidas Sweatshirt | Tan Sandals

I always travel with a sweatshirt – no matter where I’m going. I either carry it on the plane as an extra layer or pack it in my luggage just in case. If I get cold at night in the hotel, it’s nice to have something cozy. Similarly, if it gets cool at night when I’m out, a light sweatshirt might be just what I need. N is actually the one who picked out this Adidas sweatshirt from Topshop and encouraged me to get it. He told me I should wear it to a bonfire on the beach. Sounds perfect! I love that idea! Now…I just have to find a bonfire on the beach to attend. If you get the chance this summer, say you’ll do it for me 😉
Look Five
High Waisted Lightwash Jeans | White Off Shoulder Top | Tan Sandals | Hat
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”1598404″]
Another thing that I always pack – no matter where I’m going or what time of year – is a simple pair of skinny jeans. For this summer’s travel plans, I’m really loving these high waisted jeans in a lighter wash. They have a really nice rise and they are perfect for wearing with crop tops. They’re also REALLY comfortable and come in petite or regular. I’d wear this look for a day of exploring a new city.
Look Six
Plain Tee (sold out in white) | High Waisted Lightwash Jeans | Tan Sandals | Hat

Finally, I think everyone needs at least one (though I really pack two or three) plain tees. I absolutely love this one. I ordered up a size so that it could be a little looser and I think it’s perfect! This look is another that’s great for some exploring or light walking if it’s not too hot. I’ve experimented with tying the shirt up in the front or back to show off the jeans and love it styled that way.
Summer Travel Essentials
When I’m packing for a summer getaway, I usually try to pack items that are versatile and can be worn more than once. I have a really specific (and extensive) set of cosmetics, toiletries, and hair tools that I bring on every trip. They take up no less than half of my full-size suitcase (some things just can’t be helped). As such, I’m not someone who can fit everything in my carry-on. That being said, I still try to pack light when it comes to clothes.
When I’m planning my looks for a trip, I lay each one out on my bed (as you see above). Then I write down all the different looks I can create with the items I plan to pack. I recently started saving product photos to my phone and creating mini collages so I don’t forget. This helps me to pack less but still feel like I have options.
I love that I’ve been able to create at least six looks with the eight items I ordered from Topshop. As far as shoes, I’ll usually pack a pair of wedges and a pair of sneakers. Then I’ll have one carry-on tote and slip my crossbody into that when I’m on the airplane. I also always bring at least one hat. If I have trouble packing it, I’ll just wear it on the plane.
