Red, White, and Blue

This fourth of July, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with my family in Fayetteville, AR.   I met my new baby nephew and spent ample time with two of my three sisters.  I don’t get to visit home often, so when I do it is such a pleasure.  With a brand new baby (like, BRAND new – just a couple weeks at that time) in the family this year, we didn’t do fireworks.  Instead, we went to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and ended the evening with Mexican food.  We by no means did our traditional celebrations but it was so nice.  We laughed and remembered and made plans.

Crystal Bridges was beautiful.  I’ve been meaning to go there for a while but hadn’t had the opportunity to until now.  There were some great pieces there but one of the most memorable things about the museum is the architecture. Moshe Safdie, an internationally renowned architect, designed Crystal Bridges.  I have to be honest, while I love architecture, I didn’t know much about Moshe Safdie before going to the museum.  However, the museum has several models from other things he has designed and I learned that he designed several of the developments the hubs and I saw when we spent a few days in Singapore on our honeymoon.  See a list of his projects here.  Something I find incredible about fashion is that you can draw inspiration from any number of things, including architecture.  I certainly felt inspired by Safdie’s designs.

What did you do for the fourth of July?  Was it in line with your family traditions or did you mix it up?

Happy Sunday!
