Happy football season, friends! We have been away from home so much this year and we have really been looking forward to spending some days at home this fall so we can cuddle up on the couch and watch our favorite NFL team. I’m so excited to share our game day set up with you guys!
When Nick and I moved to Atlanta 8 years ago, we were so excited to finally have some pro teams to cheer for. We both grew up in Arkansas so we never had that. We’ve loved watching the Falcons over the years and finally went to an NFL preseason game at the new stadium last year when I was pregnant with Milo. Now that our little guy is here, we are so excited to create some game day traditions with him.
NFL Game Day Ideas
We were out of town for the first game of the season this year so we carved out some time to celebrate and watch the game at home as a little family.
Since there’s still lots of football left and lots of game day partying to plan, I am sharing some quick tips with you on how to quickly and easily put together a fun and festive game day party at home.
Keep it simple (or don’t!).
For this year’s kickoff game we went with simple buffalo chicken sliders, chips, and sparkling water. It’s so easy to put together and you won’t have to spend hours prepping in the kitchen. Because let’s be honest, who has the time? Some of our other game day favorites include sweet potato chili or the ultimate simple solution, ordering pizza! For us, keeping it simple works. Milo isn’t eating our game day grub so we just went with a simple entree and side. For bigger parties/families, do it up as big as you like! Just keep the focus on fun and don’t stress.
Have fun with your team spirit!
There’s nothing more fun than getting into the game and showing some team spirit. We picked up some fun decorations at a local party supply store and it was so fun setting everything up as we got ready to watch the game. It will be so much fun to get Milo involved in the decorating when he’s a bit older. He was very interested in the big shiny balloon banner he watched mom and dad put up.
Don’t forget the sweets!
You may or may not know but Nick and I have a major sweet tooth. So this Falcons cake was the perfect dessert for our little family game day party! This cake would also be perfect for a bringing along to larger parties with friends and family. But if you’re anything like us, you may just want to keep it all for yourself. Shh…

Nick and I both have great memories of cheering on our favorite local sports teams with our families when we were growing up. And we are looking forward to making these memories for Milo as he grows up. Cheering on your favorite team is great but it’s the people you do it with that make the lasting memories.
We had a blast cheering on the Falcons and enjoying some much needed family time at home. There’s nothing better than cozying up with my guys and cheering on our team. *all the feels*
