Best High Waisted Jeans
I’ve been a fan of high waisted jeans for years, but since having my first baby, I’ve become a MAJOR fan. We recently did a major purge Marie Kondo style and let’s just say the only jeans that spark joy for me are high waisted.
I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite styles that I think belong in every closet.
1. Raw Hem
My personal favorites are these raw hem cigarette jeans. They are one of the first pairs of jeans I bought after I had Milo and they made me feel so good even when I was majorly insecure about my new postpartum body. I love a raw hem these days because, being 5′ (5′ 1″ if I’m generous), it’s super easy to just chop jeans at ankle length and I’m good to go. I used to spend a small fortune on alterations. Otherwise I’d have to roll my jeans 7 times. No thank you.
2. Classic Dark Wash
Another great option to have in your closet is a pair in a classic dark wash in skinny or flare (or whatever style you like). These are great for casual Friday at the office or for dinner out. A pair of dark wash high rise jeans is nice to have on hand for those situations where you are not quite sure the dress code. A simple dark wash pair of jeans kind of toes the line between business casual and casual.
3. Black
I personally am a huge fan of black denim because it makes my wardrobe feel a tad edgier. I have a Free People pair that I adore and I’ve linked up a couple other options below.
4. Crop Flare
A trendier piece to pick up right now is the crop flare. I went all in with this style in 2018. Recognizing it was a trend, I opted for some more affordable pairs initially. But I’m still loving the look and I’m allllll on board for 2019.
5. Distressed
I’ve traded in most of my ultra distressed denim recently for more subtle distressing. I still like a good tear in the knee, but I’m not sporting as much shredded denim as in years past. I’m in love with this pair.
Best Designer Denim Brands
When I’m shopping designer denim, I currently start with anything from AG, Citizens of Humanity, DL1961, Frame, Good American, or Madewell.
Best Affordable Denim Brands
If I’m looking for new denim on a budget, I usually start with Topshop, STS Blue, or Articles of Society. Asos has some great options too!

Just read Marie Kondo’s book on tidying, life is changed. After the holidays the only jeans I wear are high-waisted, nothing feels better. Don’t know all these brands, but excited to try them out!!
High waisted jeans are my favorite! I actually only wear those!! I have black, distressed, dark denim… just love them! They make an outfit!
