Baby’s Day Out with UPPAbaby

We took Milo out several weeks ago (I think he was 3.5 weeks at this point) for the first time because I was going a little crazy at home. We just kept him covered (except to snap a few pics) and kept our trip short. We were so excited to try our new UPPAbaby VISTA stroller because at that point we hadn’t used it with an actual baby in it. Now we’ve been using the system for a while and we LOVE it. I had always imagined our first trip out with the baby, stroller, and all our gear would be incredibly bumbly and clumsy but it actually went incredibly smoothly. We were out of the car and on our way within like a minute of parking. It’s not that we’re just pros or anything though, it’s probably the VISTA and MESA combo. The carseat clicks out the base super easily and the stroller sets up with pretty much one move. Then you just click the carseat onto the stroller and you’re on your way.

I used to work in a children’s play place with an attached retail space and I was a nanny or babysitter for years before I worked in a preschool. Not to mention I have 1 niece and 3 nephews. Essentially, I have seen all kinds of stroller systems in my days. I don’t think the VISTA was around back then, but I have never used another stroller/carseat system that felt as smooth or easy to set up. Sometimes Nick and I can feel the stroller envy when we are walking through the mall. Even my cardiologist mentioned how much he wanted the latest VISTA for his kiddos (his wife had a baby just before me so we usually end up talking about babies).

I get it because I had stroller envy too. When we were in San Diego when I was about 20 weeks pregnant, I stopped a few couples I saw pushing the VISTA or CRUZ and asked how they liked it and they all said they loved their stroller. Now I get it. It’s a little bit of an investment but it will also grow with your family if you are having more children. Even if you’re not planning to grow your family, you’ll still love the system for it’s ease of use, chic look, and the GIANT storage basket underneath.

When I started writing this post, it wasn’t supposed to be a love letter to UPPAbaby, but I legitimately am in love with our stroller and car seat so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

What I wanted to write about is how incredibly amazed I am by my body. I had a rough end of pregnancy and a long and difficult delivery and I thought my body would never recovery. Recovery has been slow, but I still can’t believe what my body can do. These photos were 5 weeks ago and I can see such a change today versus then and then versus the day I delivered. I keep seeing people on Instagram who had babies two days ago and are already back in their old clothes, strutting around in swimsuits, and looking like they couldn’t possibly have just had a baby. It’s difficult not to compare myself to them. I have stretched out skin, stretch marks everywhere, and many pounds to lose. I haven’t mentioned this online yet, but Nick and I just filmed our birth story so you’ll see it soon. I had to have an emergency C-section after 72 hours of induced labor. My body went through it. So in addition to the things I mentioned above, I also have a scar I didn’t anticipate and a sort of traumatic view of birth that I didn’t have going into it. But I’m starting to feel much better this side of things and honestly can’t believe what my body is capable of.
