If there’s one trend I’m happy to see make a full comeback, it’s the boho vibes associated with pieces like the peasant top. I’m a little bit obsessed with peasant tops lately. Not only because they are pretty, feminine, and comfortable, but also because they are super easy to throw on with a pair of jeans.
The one thing that I always feel is missing from my wardrobe is tops. I never feel like I have any cute, eye-catching tops. I have jeans and skirts and dresses and jackets and alllll the basics, but I don’t (erm…didn’t) have many statement tops – especially for spring. I do have a decent collection of sweaters that I’ve put together, but again, no pretty spring tops. So recently I’ve made a concerted effort to up my top game. I’ve invested in a couple nice blouses (here + here) because I feel like they are more versatile, more likely to be worn, and, ultimately, more worth the dime.
When it comes to trendy statement blouses, however, I don’t have a problem taking the affordable route. If you visit Mae Amor often, you may know my rule. I can splurge on items that are versatile and can (and will) be worn multiple ways; pure trend items, however, must be affordable. Because there’s really no point in spending more than, say, $30 (that’s my number – you can pick yours) on a shirt you’re only going to wear once or twice. That’s why I was so excited to find this shirt. It’s purple and fun and so easy to throw on with a pair of jeans AND it’s only $23. At that price, I don’t mind that it’s not the most versatile and that I won’t be wearing it all the time. Though the color is so pretty and the top is so comfortable that I’m honestly a little tempted to wear it all the time.
