 Dots Blouse and Faux Fur Vest

I’m on a faux fur vest kick lately.  I have more than a couple now because they are the perfect little addition for extra warmth and extra style.  This pink faux fur vest is darling.  Nick thinks it’s not the greatest – “you look like you’re wearing a muppet” was his opinion of the look – but that has never stopped me before.  I looked at him squarely and said “I wear what I like.” Whenever we disagree about the appropriateness of a look, I always urge Nick, “trust me.  It doesn’t look like much now, but once I wear it, you’ll love it.” Normally that’s true, but he pretty much holds to his distaste for faux fur.  Though he does say, “I’m not saying you don’t look cute.”  I’ll take that.  suum cuique.

This past week, Nick and I visited our hometown for Thanksgiving and were blessed to have some pretty pleasant weather. The entire week/weekend, I found myself wearing the same basics every day: black pants or leggings, boots or booties, silky blouse, faux fur vest.  It’s a fool proof recipe for a great look and it also makes packing ultra simple.

PS – nevermind the bags under my eyes.  I don’t edit that kind of thing out because it’s how I really look.  Traveling home for any occasion is glorious but it’s always really hard on me.  I didn’t sleep for more than a couple hours at a time the week leading up to the trip or while we were there.  Not healthy, I know.  But I’m sure you feel me.

      And thank you…I feel like I have bags under my eyes all the time. I always think…if I don’t say anything, people will think, “what’s up with her eyes? Why would she even share that?” but when I do say something, people naturally look for it even if they wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.
