Striped Tee + Life Update

Stripes are one of my favorites anytime of year, but I grow particularly attached to them every spring. There’s just something so classic about a striped tee. It goes with so many things from basically any kind of jean to floral prints. But I love my striped tee with a nice pair of white jeans.

Striped Tee + Life Update

I don’t EVER do life updates. I know you come here for fashion, beauty, and other fun stuff 🙂 But today felt like the day to get a little personal. Maybe because I feel I need to answer for sporadic posting and maybe because I just want to talk. I don’t know.

This post was supposed to go up last week while I was out of town. I gathered more than two weeks of content before I left to visit family last week because I didn’t want to have to take my camera with me or anything, but it just didn’t happen like that. I took all and edited most of my pictures beforehand, but whenever it came time to actually put a post together, I just couldn’t make it happen.

My trip to Denver was lovely, but didn’t go quite as expected. One of my cousins had her baby while we were in town (only a week earlier than expected – mom and baby are well), but we didn’t end up getting to see them. Then my baby nephew got sick and we were visited by a surprise blizzard. I also had a couple campaigns come up and it felt like everything was keeping me from getting them done (I got them done, hooray). To say I was distracted would be an understatement. Plus, I was just thoroughly enjoying spending time with my grandparents, my mom, my sisters (2 out of 3), and a couple cousins. My mom, sisters, and baby nephew drove to Colorado from Arkansas and the plan was for me to drive to Arkansas with them when they left. The blizzard caused road closures, but we still were able to get out on the day we planned, just a little behind schedule. Then we spent the better part of two days on the road. We dropped my sisters and nephew off in NW Arkansas, then my mom and I dawdled our way back to my hometown. It’s nice to just take your time sometimes when you don’t really have anywhere you have to be.

This past week was a little bananas and I was getting so overwhelmed that I actually canceled my Monday evening flight and had Nick drive to Arkansas to pick me up over the weekend so I could get home a day earlier and get some stuff done. Poor guy spent almost 20 hours in a car over two days just to ease my mind. At least this way Nick and I got to see his parents and sister and we got to visit with my other sister, BIL, and niece. We even dyed Easter eggs and it was pure heaven for this auntie.

I usually only get emotional about acts of kindness and dogs, but I’ve been pretty uncontrollably emotional these past couple days. Just wishing I could be closer to family and hating that I don’t get home more often. I have lived away from my family since I was eighteen (nearly eight years), so you’d think I’d be used to it by now. I mostly am, but every now and then it gets to me. I’m so thankful that I had this past week to hang out with my family, but sometimes it just hurts to be away from the people you love.

In other news, I absolutely love a striped tee. This one is mildly nautical – especially with the white flare jeans – and I love the pops of tan from the bag and shoes. This is my casual day uniform, and one that can be worn into the summer.

If you’re looking for other ways to wear white jeans, don’t miss how I styled this same pair of jeans a few weeks ago.
