It’s 2015!!!! On one hand, I feel like this year flew by, but on the other I really can’t believe that all of the days I lived last year occurred in the same year. Lots of changes and lots of fun things, but I can only imagine that this year will hold even more! I’m really excited for what’s in store.I had been planning to share a party outfit with you today (don’t worry, I’ll still share later). But, as I mentioned in my previous post, one of my big resolutions in 2014 was to start making videos as a sort of supplement to Mae Amor. So I guess in a weird twist of fate, I didn’t utterly fail at meeting a goal. Last night I published my very first video ever. This is kind of big deal for me and it’s kind of making me cringe, but you’ve got to start somewhere. I’m quite proud of myself because, while I’ve been filming “test” footage for a while, yesterday was my first shot at editing a video ever. It’s not amazing but it’s not terrible for my first try.
For my first tutorial, I wanted to shoot something that is very familiar to me and this little side braid is definitely that. I originally came up with this look over a year ago. Nick and I were on our way home from a late movie, I was super sleepy and my hair was getting in my face, so I braided it. This is the braid that I “created” (I had never seen it before). We only live a couple minutes from our local movie theater, so the braid couldn’t have taken long and couldn’t be anything that great. I thought I was just doing something really easy (because it is) but when I got home and went to do my nightly routine and looked in the mirror, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the braid actually looked pretty adorable. Then it just became a thing.
Fast forward close to two years and this look sort of stays in my back pocket for when I want to do something quick, cute, and easy. I have a seven day hair routine that includes washing my hair no more than three times in a week. I always straighten my hair on day one of seven but I do not like to wear my hair straight because it looks sort of blah. So I typically wear my hair straight on day one (and cross my fingers that no one I know sees me), then do a style like this one on day two. Major upgrade from blah day one.
Hope you enjoy! If you do, I would be ever appreciative if you would subscribe to my channel (lots more videos to come) and like the video.
And because it’s a new year and I’m in a good mood, I’m teaming up with some other bloggers to bring you a pretty stinkin’ awesome giveaway. Check it below!

Yay!!! Your first video turned out great, Mae! I wear a side braid a lot, too. Perfect way to disguise greasy hair! I’m going to try a deeper side part like you did here next time, that makes the braid even more dramatic. Love!
