If you’re like me, then deciding what to wear for pretty much any event can be stressful for you. Even though I write about fashion pretty much every day, I still struggle with what to wear sometimes (more than I’d care to admit). I’m usually most comfortable in jeans, but jeans aren’t appropriate for every situation. As such, I’ve made a point to start developing my dress collection and I’m so glad to have this adorable striped wrap dress in my wardrobe.

Girls Night Out

Every now and then, I’m lucky enough to get to hang out with my girlfriends. As much as I love spending time with them, however, I still get nervous about what to wear. As I mentioned above, I usually wear jeans for day-to-day stuff, but they aren’t appropriate for every situation. To avoid the stress of feeling underdressed, I pretty much always reach for a dress these days. This striped wrap dress from Topshop is adorable and very versatile. While I styled it for a girls night out, it can just as easily be paired with wedges and a denim jacket for a daytime look.

My friends and I typically just go to dinner for a girls night out, but there’s also the occasional movie. When I’m planning a look, I start with the dress. I find that a dress like this is appropriate for most any scenario in which I might find myself. It is very simple but the wrap style accentuates the waist.

From there, I add a layer. Sometimes that might be a jacket, shawl, or cardigan, depending on the planned festivities. In this case, I opted for a super chic and edgy faux leather jacket. It’s an added layer for warmth and also helps keep the look put together. For the shoes, I selected these platform ankle strap heels. The height is a must for me and the simple design compliments the rest of the look without distracting from it too much.

I layered simple, delicate necklaces to give the look just a little more interest. If you prefer, you can easily add a statement necklace. I just prefer simple pieces. Finally, I added a soft pop of color with this quilted clutch. It sort of mimics the quilted details of the jacket. The quilting and zippers in the jacket are actually what made me fall in love with it.

If these simple steps for putting your girls night out look together still have you baffled, just ask your friends. They won’t care and they might have been wondering what you were wearing anyway. Planning your looks together can be a fun extension of your girls night.
