The Soft Shorts

When I first picked up these leaf print soft shorts, I developed a sort of love/hate relationship with them.  I loved that they are high-waisted, super comfy, and not SOFFE shorts.  I kid…I haven’t worn those since high school. probably. maybe.  But really, I used to think that comfort and fashion could not be combined.  Now I don’t subscribe to that notion in the least.  If you’ve learned any one thing from my blog, it’s probably that I am very much in love with both fashion and comfort and merge them together quite often (and seamlessly I hope).  But still, I had some difficulty getting used to these shorts at first.  They were too comfortable to also be fashionable.  Until I paired them with a structured button down and a denim jacket, that is.  Flowy pieces + structured pieces is a pairing that just makes sense.  It’s all about balance.

PS – I have to give a special acknowledgement to Nick who always takes my photos, regardless of the conditions.  The day we shot this look, it started raining – then pouring – pretty soon after we started shooting.  Nick is very much the other half of Mae Amor – the half you don’t ever see.  You see me all the time, but he’s just about as invested in this thing as I am.  Thanks for snapping in the rain, guy, and for all the other things you do to support this blog.  You’re the best.
