I seriously love this blue on blue look.  I ordered this skirt a looong time ago and just never got around to wearing it.  I have a bad habit of doing this.  I buy things because I “see” something in them, usually a really specific look.  But sometimes it takes me time to get around to wearing them.  In this case, I really wanted to pair this skirt with a blue and white striped shirt, so I ordered the one pictured about.  However, when it came in, it was this really weird slicky material.  Just not what I expected at all.  It’s still really cute, but it wrinkled easily and didn’t steam well.

I’m not totally sure why I felt compelled to share that, but sometimes in blogging (as in anything), things don’t go according to plan.  Like, sometimes you plan 5 looks to shoot and even make a transition plan so that you can shoot them all in one outing.  “I’m gonna wear this shirt and these shorts. Then I’m gonna slide this skirt on over the shorts…” blah blah blah.  That requires changing in the car most of the time because I am just not about public restrooms.  But then your clothes don’t fit quite like they did in the mirror and it gives you a complex.  Then you’re like “how can I even take pictures when I feel like this?”  Then you have weird lighting or you miss golden hour because you can’t find a parking space.  These aren’t all real scenarios but they just seem like the things that always happen to me.  You know…things like that.

I have a LOT of fun with blogging and honestly have grown so much as a person.  I have said it before, but even though blogging (particularly the OOTD style blogging I do) often brings out my insecurities, it has really helped me to become a much more confident person.  Yet there are days and weeks (okay, like, series of months) where I just get stuck.  I keep producing content but I feel like crap.  I am insecure, I said that.  And sometimes I am afraid to put myself out there.  Because, like, who even cares what I have to say or what I’m wearing?  Probably no one.  But for some reason people do care and that means a lot to me.

I’m probably being too honest.  I should keep this post light, Friday-appropriate material.  But know that I’m actually feeling super positive right now.  It’s just that sometimes you have to say what’s on your mind or you feel like a fraud.  And ain’t nobody got time for that.

Hope you have a superb weekend!

xo,

Mae-Signature
