Project Wear Less Makeup with Murad

Mae Amor - Project Wear Less Make up with Murad

Well, summer is over and it is officially fall.  I hate to admit this, but I sometimes neglect my skin in the summer.  In the summer months, I try to enjoy every last second of daylight that I can and sometimes come home late and just plop into bed.  I’m embarrassed to say that, honestly, but it’s true.  Now that it has started cooling off, I’m reminded that my skin is in desperate need of attention.  I wear a lot of makeup and I wish it wasn’t so.  I would really like to wear less makeup day-to-day, so I’m trying to revamp my routine to get me to that place.  Enter Murad.  I have been a huge fan of Murad for a long time.  I used their products right around the time I graduated college and got married and I have to say, I loved my skin then.  When I decided to get my (skin care) act together, Murad was my first choice.

Murad has a “What’s Right for Me?” quiz that will drill down on your biggest skincare concerns and tell you which products are right for you.  My biggest concerns are acne and aging.  I have what I consider to be “normal” skin.  My skin gets dry in areas at certain times of the year and oily in areas at other times.  I don’t have severe acne, but I do get blemishes (particularly at certain times of the month, if you catch my drift).  I don’t have many wrinkles yet, but I certainly want to work to prevent them.  So my results said that I should use the Anti-Aging Acne system.  I just want to improve the condition of my skin so that I can feel more confident about my no-makeup skin.

I’m not going to give a full review of each item, because you may have an entirely different skin type and need different products.  I’m just going to share what I found to be most noteworthy.

Step 1 Products:

Time Release Acne Cleanser | Transforming Powder | Skin Smoothing Polish

I am really enjoying the time release cleanser.  I use it nearly everyday (morning and night), but I am absolutely obsessed with the transforming powder and skin polish. Like, oh muh gawsh.  The transforming powder is just a powder that becomes a miraculous cleanser and exfoliator when you pour a little onto your wet palm and massage onto your face.  Whenever i use it, I feel like my skin is instantly glowy.  The pore reform polish is also amazing.  The first time I used it, I think that the words I used to describe it were “it seems like a polish for your face.”  Then I read the label and was like, “oh, duh!”  Neither of these products are everyday cleansers, so I alternate using them throughout the week.  I just pick one and use it in place of the time realize cleanser every couple of days.  I would use the transforming powder all the time if it wouldn’t dry my skin, but that’s just not how it was intended to be used.  After using the polish for a little while, I was describing it to N and he said, “I really feel like I need to try this.”  So he did, and he approves.

Mae Amor - Every day skincare routine with Murad

The items pictured directly above are the products I use (basically) every day.  I use the Time Release Acne Cleanser morning and night (I really like to use it with my Clarisonic Plus).  In the morning, I usually follow with the Acne & Wrinkle Reducer all over my face and neck (lightly).  I then use a teeny bit of the Acne Spot Fast Fix on any blemishes.  This stuff comes in a small bottle, but it will last forever because you only need a tiny bit (even for several blemishes).  Then I use the eye cream on my brow bone and under eye.  This stuff also only requires a tiny, tiny bit.  I don’t even use a full pump.  It makes my eyes look bright and smooth.  Finally, I use the Anti-Aging Moisturizer.  I particularly like using this moisturizer because it has an SPF.  I don’t like a ton of moisturizer because it makes my skin feel oily, so I just use it lightly.  Note that I also have an SPF in my BB cream that I use daily.  Sometimes I use more/different products at night, but I do essentially the same three step process.

I thoroughly enjoy my new skincare routine and have seen improvement in my skin.  I’ve been using these products for roughly six weeks.  I immediately saw a reduction in blemishes.  I do have more blemishes right now, however.  I attribute it to stress, but I’m not really sure what is up.  I also noticed that the one wrinkle that I am ultra aware of has reduced in appearance since starting this routine.  I was really surprised, actually.  I was getting really self conscious about this one wrinkle, but hardly notice it now.
