Happy New Year!!!  I thought I’d start my new year with a classic.  Every year I feel like this will be my year and I, like many, think I have to leave the past behind and step into the joy and happiness the new year brings.  However, it’s important to hold onto the good things when you move forward.  Did you make changes in 2013 you’re proud of?  Hold on to those and carry them with you into the new year to allow them to shape who you’ll become in 2014.  You don’t have to reinvent yourself every year.  Some things just work.  Just like the Little Black Dress.  There are few things in a girl’s wardrobe as necessary as the LBD.  The LBD is a classic that will never go anywhere.  Styles may change, but the LBD is so versatile that no matter the style, it can by worn countless ways and be worn for countless occasions.  I particularly love the shape of this one.  It’s similar in shape to the dress I wore in my last post (here) but with a few extra details like the pockets and the front zipper.  Even with all it’s details, it’s still classic and simple, which makes it amazing.

So, in this new year, go ahead and do those “25 things to try in 2014.”  Go somewhere you’ve never been before.  Eat something you’ve never eaten.  Meet someone you haven’t met.  Give someone a chance.  Close doors that don’t serve you anymore – many more will open.  Go after your dreams and don’t be owned by your past.  Be brave.  Be amazing.  Be loving.  Be caring.  Be good.  But most importantly, be yourself.  You are a classic.

Much love!

Love the look! For my new year I’m going to buy a LBD! Haven’t had one in years! That’s one of my 25 new things for 2014. Love all of your advice for the New Year–keeping what was good from last year, going onto the new year with new things to try. You are wise beyond your years.
